Skrillex and Chase & Status Release Surprise Single ‘Essa Ta Quente’

‘Essa Ta Quente’, the latest collaboration from Skrillex and Chase & Status, arrived on 8 September 2026. Skrillex, known offstage as Sonny Moore, first emerged as vocalist for post-hardcore outfit From First to Last before shifting to electronic production, where he established himself as one of dance music’s most decorated artists, collecting nine Grammy Awards and pushing a rawer dubstep sound into the American mainstream. Chase & Status, composed of Saul Milton and Will Kennard, have remained central to British drum and bass for nearly two decades, assembling a catalogue of charting albums and festival performances that consistently draw on grime, jungle, and pop influences. The single precedes their forthcoming album, Generic Everything, due 9 October, which will also feature appearances from J Hus, Little Simz, and others.

The track first surfaced as an ID when Skrillex invited Chase & Status onstage during his Boomtown 2026 headline set last month. Flowdan also featured in that performance, and footage of the unreleased track circulated rapidly, making an official release all but certain. The finished version is a concise, percussive piece shaped by Brazilian rap and baile funk, genres the duo have cited as foundational influences. Anchored in the low end, it maintains a club-driven pulse without venturing into extended drum and bass territory, and now stands as one of the early signposts for Generic Everything.

Skrillex recently released ‘Mirage’ alongside UK garage producer MPH. Chase & Status have already unveiled ‘Gone Too Far’ with Debbie and ‘Disgruntled’ featuring J Hus and IRAH. In June, the duo also appeared in the James Bond game 007: First Light, delivering a virtual DJ set.
