Banny Decks just dropped his new single, ‘You Got That Something’, on Now Listen, and it’s a perfect example of why he’s getting noticed. The east London producer spent years balancing his plumbing business with late-night studio sessions before deciding to focus fully on music after training at London Sound Academy in Camden. In July 2025, he left plumbing behind and opened his own studio in London. Growing up during the peak of ‘90s and ‘00s jungle and drum and bass, he started out MCing on pirate radio and playing clubs across London, Essex, and even summer gigs on the Greek islands.

With this track, Banny fuses the untamed spirit of classic jungle breaks with the momentum of modern drum and bass. Producing it on his own, he keeps the drums crisp and relentless, the bassline deep yet inviting, and layers in a striking female vocal hook that soars above the mix. The result is drum and bass at its purest – direct, vibrant, and refreshingly uncluttered. It has an industrial feel that only the grime of D&B can deliver on however, instead of an entirely cold mechanical track, the breaks in the tracks production allow for warmth to ooze in through tastefully and tactfully placed piano motifs

This track is a tribute to anyone with that special spark, no matter where they come from. Banny Decks explains: “With ‘You Got That Something’, I wanted to blend old school and new school drum and bass sounds. I kept the drums simple, paired with a heavy but easy-to-listen-to bassline that still has movement and warmth. The catchy vocal was important to me because I wanted the track to feel uplifting and accessible, not overcomplicated. The song is really about celebrating people who have that something extra special – people from all walks of life who stand out from the crowd in their own way.
