This weekend, Verasect celebrated the release of the latest remix of his work; the ‘Catch Your Breath (Dobie Remix)’. Dobie is perhaps best known for some of his remixes for big names such as Björk, DJ Premier, Massive Attack, and Tricky. The original wave single meets with gritty drums, clashing in your ears to start but as they adjust, the precision and rhythm comes through with purpose.
The track is the third of a series of remixes that Verasect has released of his own work. However, he reveals that it was his collaboration with Dobie that began the trend. “‘Catch Your Breath’ is at its heart a breakup song and Dobie retained the sadness of the original but took it in a more musical direction with big organic drums and beautiful melancholy piano chords. The second half kicks it up with an unexpected crunchy distorted guitar riff as it descends into a chaotic low-fi dreamscape. I was so happy with the result that it inspired me to seek out more remixers and release this upcoming EP.”
Following this, we will be treated to him sharing the ‘Awakenings Remixes’ EP. The EP will display the remixes that were sparked by the Verasect/Dobie alliance and allow their fans to get a complete idea of the enormous potential of the wave genre as it meets other influences.
