Plus Future Records music producer Nepotek announces new EP

Onto his fourth release in 2020 alone, Tokyo-based British artist Nepotek shows no signs of slowing down. Having picked up support from the likes of Colin Dale, John Digweed, Sasha, and Hernan Cattaneo, Nepotek turns in yet another well-rounded EP, enlisting Terry Francis and Ne.Hau for remix duties.

Nepotek is in fine form on ‘Cirrus’, with dreamy chords and scratchy basslines meeting hypnotic vocal abstractions and trippy synth work, creating an uplifting yet inky atmosphere. Fabric founding resident and Wiggle co-founder Terry Francis adopts a heads-down approach with his remix, adding shuffling, textured effects and extra percussion to the mix, wrapping his signature style around the key parts of the track.

Having recently released tracks on Mr.C’s Superfreq label, Ne.Hau from Denver and Austin paint the original with brighter, grooving percussion, toying with the arrangement as elements of the original drift in and out of focus, offering a fresh, spaced-out take on Nepotek’s production.

‘Fix’ is pure breaks, making full use of punchy drums, which slice through the mix as eerie synths swirl throughout. Closing out the release is ‘Dream Plaza’, an ambient concoction of jazzy drums and lush chords, perfectly suited to wind things down as the listener resurfaces from yet another solid EP from Nepotek.
