Bristol DJ and producer Eli Brown has remixed the Sub Focus and Wilkinson smash single ‘Just Hold On’ which has been released alongside the official video for the original track.
Eli’s floorfilling remix ramps up the rave euphoria, placing a firmer emphasis on the enchanting female vocal while upping the ante even further with a forceful kick drum. Joining the brand new remix is also the official video of the original composition. An ode to the halcyon days of rave that sees the two main protagonists losing themselves in a maelstrom of liberation and positive energy.
Two globally renowned artists in their own right with over 1 billion combined streams ‘Just Hold On’ saw Sub Focus and Wilkinson taking their sound into an expansive new direction. Featuring live drums played by Wilkinson and live strings, the euphoric, breakbeat-heavy track is complimented by soaring diva vocals courtesy of Vula Malinga of Basement Jaxx with a bitter sweet lyric that has added poignancy in these uncertain times.
The single was the second of a long form collaborative album project between the two artists called ‘Portals’ taking their styles in a more expansive and experimental direction, inspired by the likes of Jon Hopkins, Bonobo and Bicep. Looking to incorporate real instruments and more depth into their corner of the electronic music world, the pair last year retreated to Real World Studios for a full month – the legendary space owned by Peter Gabriel.
Eli Brown is best known for last year’s monster single ‘XTC’, a collaboration with Manchester duo Solardo. He has also released tracks and remixes on the likes of Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars, Adam Beyer’s Truesoul and Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, with the revered producer quickly building a reputation as an artist synonymous with a killer bassline.
A high-octane, club-ready take on the original, the Eli Brown remix of ‘Just Hold On’ will no doubt become a post-lockdown rave favourite.
